To those that understand

Being stood up in life
can be so painful.

Believing in someone when
they say they will be here
no matter what.
Your heart pounds with excitement.
You have stars in your eyes and
hope in your heart.

They promised they would be here
by 8.
Eight comes and goes and no word.
You still wait thinking there has to
be a reason they aren't here.
You try to tell yourself it doesn't matter.

Tears start to fall and your heart suddenly
wants to stop beating.
If one time was all you were stood up it
might not be quite as bad.
But too many times to count.
Always an excuse why they stood you up.

Being stood up when you are in love
crushes the spirit.
Yes it even eats a little of your self esteem
each time.
Still we wait like little puppies waiting
for a hand out.

Finally you accept the fact that you aren't
as important to them as they are to you.
Then you ask yourself were you ever important
to them or were you just a way to pass
a boring day when they had nothing else to do.

I truly believe when you are stood up
over and over you start questioning your
own self worth.
Questions pop into your mind like....
"am I not pretty or skinny enough?"
Am I not smart enough?
Is it the way I talk?
The way I walk?
Is it I'm just the kind of person that
needs to be beaten down and that's all
I'm worthy of?

Doesn't matter why you are stood up it
still hurts none the less.

Watching the tears fall from her eyes like rain and knowing her heart is breaking inside isn't easy."
