Just Like In School

Remember when you were in
school and friends you had
many?
Remember the fun things you
did together as a group
and thought it would never end?

Remember in school when days
seemed so happy and carefree
and all was right with the world?
Until that fateful day when things
changed and not for the better.

You had a disagreement with your
very best friend.
You didn't think it was anything
major and you knew soon it would
be over and you would go back to
being best friends once again.

Little did you know that when you
quarreled with your best friend
all of the rest of the gang would take
their side.
It was like you argued with all of them
not just one.

Things went from bad to worse.
Days turned into a nightmare and you
hated waking up in the morning and catching
the bus to school.

You were shunned, called names, and you
felt like an outcast.
People you thought were friends weren't
any longer.
All because you and your best friend had
a disagreement.
Not saying much about the friends we pick
in life.....does it?

Well, we grow up and are no longer in school.
But we find things are still the same.
You can't disagree with one person without
everyone else taking it personally and
you find yourself left alone again.
Just like in school.

It's a sad state of affairs when you can't
count on those you thought were friends.
