Living a lie just wasn't what
he wanted.
Promising her his love forever
wasn't to be.
He pretended to love and want
her but living this lie just
couldn't bring him happiness.

He walks along the beach remembering
how much love she gave him.
But inside he is happy she isn't
in his life any longer.
She knew but tried to pretend she
wasn't just imagining his love, if there
ever was any had faded away forever.

His wish has come true she has gone
and there is no bringing her back.
She left feeling like a fool just as he
thought she was.
He had fun for a while.
But there was someone else waiting for him.
Someone that was always there but he
pretended she didn't exist.

Sometimes love can blind us to the truth.
We want to believe in someone so much
that it never occurs to us that they are
just using us.
They feast on the delicate heart of one that
has put all their trust in them.
Is he proud of himself.........yes.

Well he has left her believing it was her
fault that things turned out this way.
He knows it wasn't totally her fault.
He just got tired of living a lie and pretending
he loved her and he didn't.

Does his heart ache for her?
No............
Does he care if a part of her has died
with his leaving?
No....................
Just another notch in his belt.
One thing though he may not find it so
easy to find a woman that will love him
the way she did.

And he may find out that she isn't suffering
a broken heart like he hoped.
She had a long time to get used to the idea
he was pretending.
